My dear wife always cooks an English Sunday breakfast and this morning I got to thinking about some of the breakfasts we used to get at sea. When I was with ESSO we always got a curry & rice starter followed by bacon, eggs, tomatoes and sometime we'd also get a sausages. My favorite was when they served hot cakes, not all ships did this but with the South American Saint Line this would be a couple of times a week and always on Sunday's ... I'm goin' to have to make some hotcakes myself, one of these Sunday's, just for old times sake. ;)

I used to enjoy a breakfast kipper dished up on some ships, fondly known as " jack the rippers " or two faced b-----ds. stan

I loved those Kippers, I think it was on the Adelaide Star where we could have as many Kippers as we could eat; a real Victorian breakfast item that was.
We used to be able to buy Kippers in OZ but I haven't seen them for years, we can get John West Kipper fillets in tins but like the Guinness we get here it bears no resemblance to the real thing. ;) :D

Shame you can't get the humble kipper down under Tony, to my mind a true delicacy, I like them so much that I sometimes take a day trip on the Isle of Mann ferry and always bring a box of the two faced fellas back with me, because I believe that the Manx kippers are the tastiest by far, something to do with the smoking process apparently. stan.

Stan I've only just spotted this and I envy you being able to get Kippers, in fact I'm going to the Super-Market fish counter to request they get som, or ask if they can get some! :D ;)

Quite right Tony, a kipperless nation is enough to sow the seeds of revolution. stan.

Talking the other night about Kippers to Malcolm, he gets them in Canada but only the Scotch boil in the bag kind, can"t beat the Manx.
