I’m sure we’ve all heard of
SETI the organization searching for extra terristrial life and they’re doing this by listening for radio signals from distant planets, however; it is now suggested that the chance of picking up any radio signals is remote to say the least, so now they’re concentrating more on searching for exoplanets i.e. planets similar to earth that could possibly support life.
OK! So this is not about ships or the sea but I find it interesting and believe it will interest other members of the sailorshome; who knows, in another 50 years the British government may open a chain of
National Space Training Schools and some of our descendants maybe studying there.
Anyway I digress, back to exoplanets.
In 2007 the European Space Agency discovered an exoplanet they believe is capable of supporting life and its only 20 Light Years from earth, that’s about a hundred and twenty trillion miles away, just a short trip for
Hungry Hogarth’s space ship
“Black Pudding Enterprise”, given the chance I’d sign on tomorrow.
Anyway follow this hyper-link to read about this discovery which is really quite interesting and exciting, its food for the imagination and will keep the grey matter moving, warding off old-timers disease.
