I have seen that kit of the 'Victorys' gun decks. That's the sort of modeling that really appeals to me. When I build stuff that requires a lot of detail like that, I can always hear the sounds like the shouting and noise from a gun deck. ( I have a vivid imagination and I've not built one of those) It helps to get a feel for what your doing. I love to see corrosion and dirt etc. As with aircraft and ships, I've been lucky enough to see them first hand. It does'nt take five minutes for a new aircraft to get dirt and oil streaks, even more so for military aircraft. Paint flaking off of aluminium on W.W.II stuff is wonderfull to copy, though you have to resist the temptation to over do it! Sad you've not got any pics of your Land Rover restos' Even sadder to have lost one in a flood, I hope you did'nt lose too much of anything else. I'm trying to add a couple of photos' of my jeep restoration on here, having a bit of trouble at the moment . Hi Geoff. Yes i can see that your having problems. Unfortunatly we lost everything but the house duing that flood. We only saved what we could carry with us when we got evacuated. But i still have the memories. You must have a simular ideas as me , i like to make things in a used condition. they make the model come to life and not a prestine thing only ment for a show case. There is another model i would like to make , and thats the bow section of the victory. with the bowsprit and fore mast. You never know it might happen. Geoff A

Go for that build Geoff, I'm trying to track down a set of drawings for the 'Braemar Castle'. The first ship I sailed on after leaving 'Vindi'.
I can't believe how difficult it is, but I keep hitting different model and shipping sites. Had a couple of leads to a magazine called 'Model Shipwright', but the edition I need has long since gone out of print.
I would like to make it a working R.C. model. It'll make a change from crashing models into trees!
Losing all your stuff must have been devistating. How do you pick yourself up and start again after that? I can't begin to imagine what that must have been like.

Hi Geoff . Im afraid we didnt have much of a choice after the flood, its all gone and what was left is all ruined anyway. But hey look on the bright side we were safe, and you just pick yourself up and start again. ill keep my eye out for some plans of the Breamar for you , two pairs of eyes are better than one. Ill have a look and price out that model of the Victory. geoff A
