Fantastic site Reg, I found photos of the place my family lived in the 19th. century when they arrived in Liverpool from Ireland and I found the street we lived in when the Second World War broke out, I turned five in the December of ’39.
The site is protected which means you can’t save any of the photos, however; there is an easy way to overcome that, if any of our Liverpool members are interested in doing so just say so and I will post instructions how to go about it here.:D

Hi TonyDW & Ernie.
I had been looking for a site like this one for many years , and all at once it poped up during a search of Old Liverpool Archives..I had been looking for info on Owen Owen ltd Store in London Road, Liverpool.(1907)
Tony you could pass on that information by PM if you like!

Hi Reg, no problem mate I will post the How To here; it’s not illegal, you don’t have to get into the website source, it’s just using what is available on your Computer Keyboard.

To copy a photo, or photos: open the site and scan down to the photo you want and do the following but first a short explanation, the numeral keys along the top of the keyboard, to the right of F12 you will see the key, Print Scrn. Now just remember that.

Next click Start, All Programmes, Accessories and open Paint then minimize it until you’re ready to use it.

OK here we go, when the photo, or photos you want is on the monitor screen click the Ctrl. & Print Scrn. keys together, you should now have the photo on a virtual clipboard inside your mouse … Open Paint and with your mouse cursor on the page that opens click the right mouse button and in the drop-down menu click Paste … You will now see the photos from the virtual clipboard on the Paint page and you can play around with them using the Paint Programme …. Have fun.
All the above is assuming you are using Windows XP, also if you have a Photoshop or similar programme you can use that instead of Paint

Nothing wrong with your brain Ernie, your as bright as a button and becoming more computer literate by the day, it's all a matter of practice.
Ernie if you look at where we were a year ago with computer you will realize we’ve come a long way; constant use builds confidence and skill. Now we realize there isn’t a key on the keyboard that if clicked will destroy the computer, the worst we can do is accidently delete something but even that is not fatal.
There is a free programme you can download called Recuva and with that you have the means of recovering whatever you have deleted, remember nothing leaves your computer, no garbage truck calls round once a week to take away all the deleted stuff, everything remains on the hard-drive and can be recovered with the right software … Deleted stuff is just over written, so remember that.
Another trick is to use Google to solve problems; I always tell my students to, “ask Google if they want answers.” Somewhere along the line, if you are having a problem, someone else has asked for help on the same problem and the answer is still somewhere on the net. When I say, “Ask Google” that’s exactly what I mean, type the question you want answered into the search box and click search, it’s as easy as that.
Many seniors are not game to get on the net because they don’t know how but we do and we’re getting better at it every day, so keep having fun Ernie and if some things seem insurmountable you can always get help at Rics Computer Emporium .RicsComputer Emporium
